Success Stories

Kajal | Centre Name: Arushi

Kajal, 24, originally from Uttar Pradesh and raised in Delhi, joined Ruchika at the age of six when her parents faced serious health challenges. She grew up at Arushi, a girls’ shelter home, where she received quality education, care, and exposure to activities such as rock climbing, football, swimming, and guitar. Alongside her studies, she became part of Salaam City Walk, which significantly strengthened her communication skills and confidence. In 2024, Kajal attended the GX event by G Adventures, where she discovered a new career path. After a successful interview in, she was selected as a Chief Experience Officer (travel guide). Today, Kajal works with G Adventures, pursuing her passion for travel and building an independent future.

Sabrina | Centre Name: Arushi

Sabrina, 20, came to Ujjwal Niketan when she was just a few months old and completed her schooling there until Grade 7. Due to multiple transitions, she stayed at several homes before finally settling at Arushi Home, where she completed her secondary education. Determined to build a strong future, she cleared the NCHMCT examination and secured admission to the Institute of Hotel Management, Ahmedabad, a central government college. Sabrina completed her Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management and also earned a B.A. (Honours) in Political Science. Through campus placements, she was selected by McDonald’s as a Trainee Manager. In this role, she is gaining hands-on experience in restaurant operations, team management, and customer service, progressing toward becoming a Restaurant General Manager.

Laxmi | Centre Name: Udaan

At just three years old, Laxmi was found wandering near Connaught Place, surviving on the streets of Delhi by selling balloons and relying on langar at Gurudwara Bangla Sahib. Orphaned due to her parents’ addiction, she was brought into the care of Ruchika and placed at Udaan, where her transformation began. Bright and resilient, Laxmi excelled academically and creatively, shining in sports, theatre, dance, and classical music. She completed her schooling with strong results, earned admission to IITTM for a BBA, and secured placement with Creative Travels. Today, Laxmi is a working professional, aspiring to pursue a master’s degree and uplift others like her—proving that her past does not define her future.
