The early years of a child's life lay the foundation for lifelong health, learning and well-being. When children receive proper nutrition, healthcare, protection and opportunities to learn during these formative years, they are better equipped to grow into confident, healthy and productive adults.
With the support of ChildFund International, Ruchika implements the Bhubaneswar Child Development Project across
22 urban slums in Bhubaneswar and 14 villages in Kanas Block of Puri district, reaching 854 children and their families.
🤝 A Holistic Approach
The programme adopts a holistic approach to child development by promoting
health, nutrition, early learning, child protection and family livelihoods, ensuring that children grow in safe, nurturing and enabling environments.
Recognising that child development is a shared responsibility, Ruchika works closely with
Anganwadi Centres, ASHA workers, Mahila Arogya Samitis, schools, skill development centres, healthcare providers, child protection functionaries and local communities to strengthen support systems around every child.
Together, we are creating an environment where every child is healthy, protected, educated and empowered to realise their full potential.

🌟 Case Study: Bishnu is now supporting his family
In Kanas, it was a really difficult time for Bishnu’s father to feed a family of 5 persons. They were living in abject poverty and deprivation, struggling for two square meals a day.
But as a sponsored child of Ruchika – ChildFund program, Bishnu was helped to grow his career. He was supported to complete his graduation and was helped to take skill training at Ruchika.
Upon completion of his training, he got a job as a Customer Relationship Officer in Cinepolis for a monthly salary of ₹15,000/-. He is presently working in Esplanade Mall at Bhubaneswar. Today, he supports his family and the studies of his siblings.
